Baku 2023 - the 99th International Session of the European Youth Parliament, the largest and most significant event of the network, is being held in the vibrant city of Baku. EYP Azerbaijan's dedicated efforts, supported by the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Tourism Board and the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, secured the bid to host this event two years ago. From 6 to 12 August, Baku is welcoming 270 participants from 35 countries, fostering intercultural exchange.
The decision to choose Baku as the host city was made by the Governing Body of the European Youth Parliament through an anonymous voting session. Rufat Mirfeyzullazada, Guldana Dadashova and Rafael Hajibayli, representing Azerbaijan on the international stage, were selected as the Head Organisers responsible for arranging the event.
Founded in 1986, the European Youth Parliament comprises 40 National Committees and boasts a membership of over 30,000 active young citizens in Europe and beyond. As a non-governmental youth organization, the EYP is dedicated to raising awareness and advancing knowledge and education on global pressing issues. EYP Azerbaijan has actively promoted active citizenship and non-formal education in Azerbaijan to align with these principles.
Hosting a diverse group of participants, the 99th International Session promises to be a landmark occasion, fostering cultural understanding and empowering youth to become proactive global citizens. The city of Baku serves as an ideal backdrop for the European Youth Parliament's transformative journey towards a better future.
