The project was established in 2019 at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Business Events with the aim of supporting destination ambassadors, i.e. local members of international professional associations from among renowned Azerbaijani scientists, doctors and other experts, as well as senior representatives of local branches of international companies based in Azerbaijan. These ambassadors have the possibility to influence the choice of Azerbaijan as a destination for future business events.
Dr. Abzatdin Adamov is the director of the Center for Data Analytics Research and a faculty member at the School of Information Technology and Engineering at ADA University. He has been the founding chairman of the IEEE Azerbaijan Computer Society since 2011 and a senior member of IEEE. Dr. Adamov is the founding general chair of the IEEE International Conference on the Application of Information and Communication Technologies (www.aict.info) and the chairman of the International Forum – Big Data Day Baku.
He offers a number of modules in graduate and undergraduate programmes including Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Large-Scale Data Management, Internet Technologies, Object-Oriented Analysis & Design, Web Programming & Design.
Dr. Adamov has over 20 years’ experience in cross-sectoral ICT research & development as a professor, consultant, and solution provider. He has initiated, managed, and successfully deployed several large projects related to the effective use of ICT in industry and education.
Dr. Araz Yusubov obtained his PhD in computer science in 2004 and started university lecturing back in 1999. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) which is the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society behind the prestigious A.M.Turing Award, also known as the “Nobel Prize of Computing”. Dr. Yusubov is the founding member of the first local ACM chapters, including the professional Azerbaijan ACM Chapter. In 2016, he was awarded ACM Senior Member status.
Throughout his career, Dr. Yusubov worked in academia, industry and international organizations. Currently, he is the Dean of the School of IT and Engineering at ADA University He has led and participated in various educational projects, including the national robotics tournaments for school students using LEGO robots, and an interactive science project promoting active learning and teaching methods among science teachers. Dr. Yusubov was one of the key persons behind the 31st International Olympiad in Informatics: IOI 2019 in Baku. He is currently a member of the International Committee for IOI. In 2019, he led the winning bid for hosting the 7th ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage 2020 at ADA University.
Aygun Shukurova is a physician holding a degree from the Azerbaijan Medical University. She has been a doctor at the Scientific Research Institute, and received her PhD in 2014. She was also appointed as the head of the International Relations department at the Azerbaijan Medical University, which has given her the chance to establish strong relations with international counterparts, as well as to grow her network of distinguished scientists around the world.
Dr. Shukurova has been involved in dozens of meetings gathering various scientists and scientific communities in Azerbaijan. She has also been a member of the International Pediatric Association, as well as the Azerbaijan Pediatric Association, and later became the founder of the Azerbaijan Medical Tourism Association. In 2019, she contributed to the successful hosting of the 17th Congress of UNPSTR-Eurasia and the World Pediatric Congress of Turkic Countries in Azerbaijan.
She has been involved in dozens of projects related to association business events, promoting Azerbaijan as a destination to host events.
Dr. Bahadur Ibrahimov received his bachelor’s degree in Istanbul from the Yildiz Technical University in Electronic Engineering. After graduation, he moved to Vienna and received Masters and Ph.D. degrees in robotics from the Vienna University of Technology.
During his studies, he actively participated in lobbying and diaspora work to promote Azerbaijan in Europe, especially in the academic world, as a member and later vice-president of the Austrian Azerbaijan Academic Association (AAAA), Young Azerbaijani Scientists in Europe, Young Professionals in Europe (AYAPE) and Engineering Managers Club. Currently, he is the president of the Azerbaijan Robotics and Automation Society (ARAS), founded by young Azerbaijani enthusiasts to promote the disciplines in Azerbaijan and bring international expertise, conferences, and exhibitions to their homeland. ARAS is a national member organisation of IFAC (International Federation on Automatic Control), IEEE, and an academic partner of the Vienna University of Technology for the Caspian Region.
Dr. Gulnara Agayeva is a member of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and the recipient of multiple grants and awards in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Agayeva holds a PhD degree and is the president of the Azerbaijan Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists Association, as well as a member of the Azerbaijan Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) and the head of the Liver Diseases department at Baku Health Center. She was selected as ‘doctor of the year’ in 2015 for her professional work, as well as her commitments regarding the research and study of toxicology.
Since 2004, Dr. Agayeva has participated in several congresses and conferences related to gastroenterology and hepatology. In addition, she had been invited to be a chairman, moderator, and guest speaker at several international association events, such as the Gastro-Hepato-Oncological Summit in Alexandria, Egypt, and the APASL STC in Istanbul, Turkey.
Dr. Taryel Omarov is the founder and the chairman of the Azerbaijan Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Association. He is a graduate of the Azerbaijan Medical University and a lecturer at the Department of Surgical Diseases and the Chief Doctor at Modern Hospital. Dr. Omarov is a member of the Azerbaijan Surgical and Gastroenterology Association, Azerbaijan Cardiovascular Surgical Association, Azerbaijan Association of Surgeons. Most notably, he is the member of several international associations and communities, such as International Society of Surgery, International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders, European Society of Surgery, Turkish Society of Surgery, Gastroenterology Association of Turkey, International Endoscopic Laparoscopic Association of Surgeons, Obesity Association of Turkey , Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery.
Dr. Omarov is the recipient of several public grants and the author of numerous books and articles. He has participated at dozens of congresses and conferences across the globe as an active member of international comminutes, as a guest speaker and author. He has successfully hosted several international and national conferences in Azerbaijan, most notable being the 5th International Congress on Bariatric-Metabolic Surgery.
Dr. Omarov has been promoting Azerbaijan for years as a potential destination to host international events.
Dr. Tahira Panahova is a graduate of the Azerbaijan Medical University. In 2000, she was awarded the title of Candidate of Medical Sciences, and in 2010 became an associate professor at the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Panahova is a member of the World Allergy Organization, European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, member of Allergologists and Immunologists of the CIS, and notably she is the General Secretary of the Azerbaijan Society of Allergy Immunologists and Immunoreabilitologists.
Dr. Panahova has participated at several international congresses and conferences around the world, including the ones in Singapore, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Turkey, Russia, Cyprus, the UAE, etc. Recently, Dr. Panahova was the host of 1st Azerbaijan International Hematology Congress, and Conference on Modern Aspects of Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 2019.
Vugar Bayramov was born in Azerbaijan on June 13, 1975. He received his bachelor's degree in Baku in 1997. He obtained his master's degree from the Azerbaijan State Economic University in 1999. He was a visiting faculty member at the Washington University in 2003/2004. Vugar Bayramov is also an alumnus of the Austrian Leadership Program.
Vugar Bayramov is the chairman of the Center for Economic and Social Development, a leading economic think tank in Azerbaijan. As the chairman of the center, Dr. Bayramov has conducted various research projects on both macro and micro economics in the areas of local government, municipality development, state budget transparency, etc. His center has been ranked as the top think tank not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the region by the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Bayramov was the first Azerbaijani co-chair of the EU Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. He has been the National Coordinator of the EU Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Azerbaijan. He is a member of the Steering Committee of EU Eastern Partnership Program, and many other international communities in the fields of humanities, social science, particularly in the field of economics. He has worked on the strategic roadmap on public development, leading him being elected as a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Bayramov is one of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world reported by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC) in Jordan in 2010.
Dr. Nigar Kamilova Mir-Nagy was born in 1965 in Baku. In 1987 she graduated from the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute with honors. In 1988-1991, Dr. Kamilova worked as a midwife-gynecologist at the Railway Hospital no. 2. From 1991 to 1994, she studied at the graduate school of AMU, majoring in "Obstetrics and Gynecology", and later was admitted as a Ph.D candidate in 1997. During 1994-2003, Dr. Kamilova had worked as an assistant at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2008, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation. She had worked as an associate professor at the Azerbaijan Medical University from 2003 to 2012, and as a professor since 2013. In 2016, she received the title of "professor".
Dr. Kamilova is an active member of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), and International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics for the European Region. Since 2012, Dr. Kamilova has been the chairman of the Approbation Council on "Obstetrics and Gynecology" at AMU. Likewise, she is the author of more than 200 scientific works published in the republic and abroad, including 7 textbooks, 1 textbook, 1 invention, 2 patents, 8 monographs and 18 methodical aids.
She has participated and organized numerous scientific and practical conferences in Azerbaijan and abroad. From 2007 to 2019 she was the chairman of "Healthy Generation" Public Union, as well as the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Society of Gerontologists.
